WATG Hosts Teen Conference

On Friday, November 17, 2017, from 8:30-3:00, the Wisconsin Association for the Talented and Gifted is sponsoring a teen conference at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells. The event is for students age 13 and up. The cost  is $50.00 and includes all materials, breakfast, lunch and snacks. The theme of the conference is "The Art of Possibilities". The conference is being held in conjunction with the WATG state conference and will have additional sessions for parents at the same time as the teen conference. Please see WATG 2017 Conference for more information about parent sessions.

Bay Port Drama Club Workshop- Nov. 18, 2017

Bay Port Drama Club is offering a workshop on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Bay Port High School for students in Kindergarten to 6th grade. Cost for the workshop is $25.00 which includes lunch. For more details see the attached flyer.

Robotics Camp 2017

A special thank you to all of the campers that participated in the 2017 HSSD Robotics Camp. We had an amazing week with lots of exciting events. It was a ton of creative fun! 3rd Annual Elementary Writing Conference 2017

HSSD Gifted and Talented Team Wins 2017 Golden Apple Award

The Howard-Suamico Gifted and Talented team was selected as a Golden Apple award recipient, the Greater Green Bay Chamber announced today. The team was surprised with the award this morning at the District Office and Training Center. Team members include Lyzette Maroszek, Brenda Rank, Mike Jameson, Nicole Smith, and Danielle Schuh. The team joins six individual award winners from throughout Northeast Wisconsin who will be honored at the Golden Apple Awards Ceremony Wednesday, April 19, 2017.

Congratulations to Braden - Northeast Grade Level Chess Champion

Congratulations to Braden, a 3rd grader at Meadowbrook Elementary, for winning the Northeast Grade Level Championship held at UW Green Bay on Saturday, February 18th. Braden went undefeated winning 4 games. This is Braden’s second season competing in Chess tournaments around Wisconsin. Braden was first introduced to chess in second grade as part of Howard-Suamico's G/T Program. Congratulations Braden!

Congratulations to our 2017 Delta Kappa Gamma Writing Contest Winners!

The Gifted and Talented program is proud to announce that four Howard Suamico students placed in the DKG Mary Jo Nettesheim Memorial writing competition. The winners were honored at an awards ceremony at Preble High School on February 21st. Michelle Melby from Fox 11 News shared some inspirational words of writing wisdom with ceremony attendees. Students wrote either a personal narrative or a creative writing story. Kingstyn, a third grade student at Meadowbrook, took 2nd place in his division. Fourth grade students Amelia, from Howard, and Lane, Forest Glen, tied for 3rd place in their age category. Bay View student Sahra took 1st place in the eighth grade division. Her story will be moving on to the state competition. Congratulations to these winners and to all of our students who participated in this writing challenge.
